I went 2 the mall & werkt a spell & din' git N2 Ne drama. Yippee! 4 no trubba bubba! I went frum thar 2 hit w/Teri Reid & it wuzza good dey. On the 3rd, I joined Digby on the campus of Michigan. That wuz a nice dey. Neetha 2 hot, nor cold. I picked up a DVD of Arturo Sandoval who had played thar the yr B4. The following week wuz awl mall. Funny how I still git 2 switch hatz. Musician, retailer, retailer, musician. On the 15th, it wuz TR's hit, minus CK. David Hungate took his place azza sub. April Barrows dropped by L8r that eve. I hadn't seen the 2 of them N yrz! MovN on, I spent the next 6 daze w/Digby N Colorado. Az usual, it wuz alotta fun. I got winded alot too. I did the usual roundz between the mall & TR's gig when I returned. That Friday, the 25th wuz nice. I saw Lalo Davila, (Thanx!) @ MTSU. DCI wuz N town. I ran N2 several Catz that I hadn't seen N awhile. I also chkd out "SCV". That line wuz pretty smokN. I wuz only able 2 stay 4 1/2 of the competition & they were the kleenest DL up 2 that point. I tore out early the next mornin' 4 Denver again 2 hit 1 show w/Digby. We then had a nice l'il drive 2 git 2 the gig. I saw Bela & Edgar there & we hadda good time. Yo' Trev', thanx 4 lookN out after us. U REALLY go ova & beyond! Twuzza nice room @ the hotel but, I din' C much of it. We were N L8, & on the way back 2 the airport @ 2:55 am. We wound up N Montreal & this wuz a "Put 2getha'" band 4 Natalie. 1ce we landed, it wuz anutha l'il drive 2 the gig. That gig managed 2 sustain itself. When it wuz awl said and done, I got checked N EARLY that morn' & had 2 leave early... again. That weekend produced about 2 daze of no sleep. I kain't sleep on the plane unless itz 2 Japan. I don't sleep N the vanz e-ther! Got back Monday & went N2 a coma. Ha! Tuesday a repeat of the mall & TR's gig. This go round wuz the last gig @ F. Scott's. We went out blazN tho'. MayB they'll dew the band thang again this Fall. Wayne Avers wuz out so Rock Williams took his place. That wuz the phattest tip we ever got thar! Thanx 2U Catz that came by & supported us. Wednesdey, I rode w/DT 2 Louisville 2 hit w/Shake. We did that, & a radio station promo. That wuz alotta fun 2! That wuz up until 1-ish the next mornin'. I axD Trev' 4 a confirmation on wut I saw az a 3:15 pm flight out. His reply, "U fly out @ 11:15 am." Uhhhhhh. God, we have a problem. DT & I were sleepN ova Bkawz of a lack of sleep & now, I had an am flight out of Nashville. God hooked us up on the way back, & I got 2 the airport w/several minnitz 2 spare. Since the 31st, I've been thru Houston, Seattle, & Victoria Island. Guess who I saw @ the airport? My 1st Hell's Angel. Very Mpozin' lookN Cat. Neway, on the way ova 2 VI, I got a blessin' & wuz bumped up 2 the frunt of the plane. I thot it wuz a mistake. Yawl wooda been laffN like crazy 2 have seen me then. I also got bumped up 2 a Lincolm MKV. The seatz warmed up 2! I thot I'd go 2 a movie, but alas, I went 2 sleep. The next dey, Nat's band played thar & we got afew, I repeat, afew hrz of sleep & tore out 4 Vancouver. B4 we split, guess who I saw? A female body builder. Very Mpozin' Cat. Ta dahhhhhh! Sundey mornin' itz off 2 Edmonton. The sdchk wuz @ 12 & the gig started @ 1. There wuz a group of African Drummers & a Piper. They also had a dancer. It wuz nice. We had 2 play anutha show jis after 6. I wuz the Heritage Festival. Really cool. I got back 2 the hotel & got a miraculous 5 hrz of sleep B4 the alarm went off @ 4:15 am. Reverse the nice drive back 2 the airport 2 fly out @ 6:30 4 Chicago. Here I sit, N the "Windy City". I'm toast. I wuz gunna shoot 4 a hotel but the agent said 2 hang N thar. Lotz din' go downstairs, kawz they were N LONGGGGGG lines tryN 2 git rebooked 4 flightz & hotel roomz. I wuz gunna leave 4 a hotel @ 4ish, but I wuz told 2 ride it out. It paid off. I got kawld 2 the counter 2 git a ticket 4 BNA. It wuz about 10:20 pm. Afew minnitz L8r, we were boardN the plane. When we were on the plane, anuther storm blew upon us. The rampers were kawld N so awl of the checked carry onz were left out N da rain! Wow! SpeakN of bagz, itz Tuesdey & 10:17 am. I guess I betta go hunt 4 it. Ha! O, back 2 the flight home. That wind wuz buh-low-win! Whew! Ova an hr L8r, we were kleered 2 take off. 30 minnitz L8r we were still on the ground. It wuz wut I'd kawl mild turbulance when we took off. How x flies! Itz been a week & time 4 an upD8. I got thru the mall gig w/out Ne drama. Yippee! Tuesdeyo wuz a travel dey. I stopped N Newark & frum thar went 2 Halifax. It wuz kinda chilly thar but very nice. Wednesdeyo had me klokN w/Natalie & the resta the Catz. Shane playz the bass, Nathaniel playz the cello, Matt duz the bagpipes, Mac playz the keyboardz, and Trevor runz the console. W emet alot of nice folx & took pix afterwardz. Thurzdeyo I flew back 2 Nashpatch, 2 play a gig w/Teri, & Chris. That wuz neat. We'll dew it again this Tuesdeyo @ F. Scott's. BTW, the pilot wuz my kuzN! How freekN weird wuz that? Frideyo, I flew 2 NYC & had the evening off. I stayed N Times Square & I had a good meal @ the Olive Garden. It wuz so good that I went back the next deyo! I'm gitN older kawz Nstead of walkN 4 miles & chkN out the club scene, I stayed N the room & chilled. Saturdeyo wuz a session w/Natalie & Yo-Yo Ma. That trak shood B ready 4 a Christmas release. I took my 1st Yamaha Signature snare & had the session Catz sign it after we finished up. It seemz az the the budget wuz N Gr8 handz. I almost want 2 say unlimited. The Previous Entries.... (10:30 am) I'm here @ the mall. I nvr said nvr, & I'm glad that I didn't. If I did, I said it jokingly. Itz been 30 minnitz & awl iz well on the home frunt. I really diggit when itz peaceful. I jis read 2daze passage frum Our Daily Bread. Itz funny how those passages seem 2B aimed rite @me. It spoke of Bn humble, or held down so that God may use it to uplift us. ( James 4:10). So true. Itz now time 2 catch U up. My trip w/Digby wuz kool. That band kunsists of Natalie MacMaster, Donnell Leahy, Erin Leahy, Nathaniel Smith, Jacques Sabin, and yourz truly. We started off N Canada and wound up comN back thru the St8s. I met TLC's father @ 1 of the gigz & that wuz really neat. He dug whut we we layN down. The delayz on gitN back 2 da flat were obvious. Due 2 cutbax, the airlines were short staffed and ran Bhind. I think that flyN will B a luxury one deyo. Az soon az I got back 2 da flat, I did laundry, & repacked. Darrell Tibbs & I drove up 2 Lexington L8r that evening to join "Shake" Anderson's group. We saw alot of lightning. It wuz magnificent! There wuz neither rain, nor wind. Just alot of flashes! Az we left the Bluegrass Parkway, We noticed debris N the road. The leaves Bcame twigs, which L8r Bcame branches. I soon started swervN 2 miss the debris. We were laffN about sooner or L8r mayB Cn a tree N the road. Guess wut? We were w/N 30 minnitz of Asbury & a tree wuz blockN the road. Not only that, pwrlines were down. We were so far out N the middle of the kuntree that I don't think that GPS wooddawerkt! Our Godsend wuz that the fellow N frunt of us lived akross the skreet frum the hotel we were 2 chill @. The utility rep told us that we had 2 go anuther way & that our lead guy wuzzent familiar with. We drove around abit & he stopped 2 apologize the Xtra runN around that we were dewN. He then decided 2 go the way that he knew. Guess wut? Anuther tree wuz down. There were several guyz movN it frum the road az the 1 fellow had a pwrsaw. We rolled thru that way & wound up takN the long way around. I wuz thinkN, "Hm, I hope that we don't run outta gas!" Ha! Guess wut? We didn't. HavN arrived @ about 2 that Tuesdeyo mornin', it wuz muggy N the room. That wuz Bkawz the AC had been knockt out by the storm. That night, we played @ Natasha's. It wuz a small room, but kool. We had no soundman. Tibbs pointed out that it wuz a flashback 2 the Moffitt's daze where we set up, engineered, played & tore it back down. Yep, awl N a daze werk. The audience wuz small, but were N2 wut we did. It wuz the muzik frum Shake's new CD. Wednesdeyo found us @ Vineyard Church 2 dew it awl ova again. It wuz such a movN Xperience on the non-secular side that I almost got happy while I wuz playN. Ha! That woodda been a sight! Since we were 2 rehearse on that stage the next deyo, we din' hafta tear down. (DT & I had 2 pack our rigz N2 the truck, then, unpack it @ the hotel.) That meant gitN it 2 the roomz 4 the ovanite hangz, then reloadN the truck 2 go 2 the venues. Did I mention the 17 yr Cicadaz? They were awl ova the place. Mo' on that L8r. We were hitN the grind on Thurzdeyo and stopped 2 support Joel Goodwin w/his Christian Metal slot @ Ichthus N Wilmore, KY. We got thar & the passes weren't ready. That ordeal took well ova 2 hrz but got done. We chked out Joel & the Cicadaz did 2. Lord have mercy! I'm so glad that they weren't the big 1's or I wood still B Nside 2dey! They wood land on U & look @U w/those reddish orange eyes. Ha! I kept w8n on 1 of the skreemerz 2 let loose on a "werdy derd" but it din happen. I must say that I'm Mpressed! 2 make a long story short. The resta the krew wuz able 2 head back 2 Vineyard Church 2 shed. DT & I had 2 secure Regi Wooten's hospitality package. That took awhile az well, but we finally got the key. I think that it wuz about 10 pm when we were able 2 rejoin the group. We finished out on a good note, tore down, packed, & went back 2 the hotel 2 reverse the process. Rise & shine! Itz early & time to roll out 4 Louisville. We were 2 meet our lead N driver@ 7:50am. @ nearly 8:30, the lead N driver wuz not @ the meetN spot. The person who wuz thar claimed 2 know KY, & whar this radio station wuz, so we opted 2 follow... this person. We rode, & rode, & rode, & when we got 2 the interst8, I noticed that I hadn't' seen a sign 4 Louisville. The reazun 4 that? We were headN 2 Cincy! DT got a kawl on hiz cell & he wuz sayN, "U tell 'im, U tell 'im." He had aktiV8d the speaker on his phone & I heard, "I think we're goin' the wrong way. We need 2 turn around." This, frum a person who wuz born N KY! This person's new nickname Bkame, "Wrong Way!" We were amongst the 1st 2 leave, & the last 1's 2 git 2 the radio station! The radio gig went well & we almost beat the storm back 2 Lexington. We followed sum1else on the drive back & got back just after 4. DT & I had 2 grab the rest of the gear @ the hotel tho'. After we got 2 the G8 for Ichthus, we koodn't git N. That took awhile Bkawz of the weather situation. When we finally got 2 the stage, thar wuz help 2 unload! Yippeee! We started setting up 4 soundcheck & N the process wound up jamN w/Shake Regi, DT, Joel & Toby Mac's Drummer, Brian Haley. That wuz fun & then, we had 2 leave Bkawz of the lightning. It wuz a blast 4 me 2 play w/a drummer who sat N da pocket. We were gunna have him play w/us on our slot Bkawz it wuz so kool! That wound up Bn awl the playN that wood happen the resta the deyo. Mayhapz we'll try again next yr. DT & I got back 2 TN & I wuz pooped! I got my truck kleened & bypassed kutN the grass. MayB this evening I'll dew it. Only 5 1/2 hrz left. So far so good. Hey Folx! Yeah, I know, itz been awhile. I musta gone 2 sleep @ 1:30 or so this mornin'. I woke up @ 4 and got krakN 4 the airport. The newz yesterdey wuz about Obama's accomplishment, and how the Dream of Dr. King had progressed. Time will tell. Back 2 BNA. I got checked N & got thru security. I had 2 gitta seat assignment @ the G8. So, while I'm 2nd N line, I must have hit my "Inviso-Power" button by mistake. The ticket agent asked the fellow N front of me if she kood help him. No sooner than he had replied, "Thanx, I've awreddy been helped." Bang! I wuz bum rushed frum Bhind by a guy wantN 2 gitta connecting flight. I'm standN there tryN 2 contain my, "O no he didn't!" St8 of shock. Awl of a sudden it wuz if I had disappeared! So much 4 how far we've come az of, itz way 2 early N da moanN 4 this uh, stuff! THAT really got under my skin. That iz, until we came thru Customz. I went with Nathaniel 2 the agent, kinda az a guardian since his parents couldn't make the trip that day. The agent loox @ me and sez, "U hafta go thru separ8tly." I said, "We're 2gether." And she took the authoritative tone and told me that we had 2 kleer separ8tly, and could not use the same agent. OOOOOOOkkkkk. MovN back 2 the red line, I looked 2 my left, 2 agentz down and wut dew I C? Only 2 people ntaviewN w/an agent, kleerN Customz. How funny, or NOT iz that? We got thru, grabbed our bagz & met our driver. I asked him if we kood hit Harvey's kawz my breakfast had long gone. By now, itz sumwhar around 1 pee yem. We made a stop & went 2 the NAC. This particular group's line up used an accordion player who also doubled up on the bones. He's a French Canadian Cat & wut he brought 2 the table wuz kwite nifty. Still mo' stuff 4 me 2 learn. The bones reminded me of wooden spoons. He wuz rudimentary & FUNky. U know I likes da FUNk! I ran N2 Denise Leahy (Flack) & her daughter. I hadn't seen them N a muntha Sundaze. They both sang @ the gig & Emily got howz. Man, they jis keep that Family Tradition rollN. The gig wuz kikN & az usual, we haddabawl! I went back & chilled until midnite & walked 2 the bus N da rain. It wuz kinda peaceful N a way. I put away my suit bag & found a bunk. We rolled @ 1:30 this mornin'. I got up when the bus stopped. We were @ Customz N Vermont. That wuz rather painless, Xcept 4 the 2nd officer eyebawlN me. I thot, Hm, look away & don't look suspishuss! Whew! We made it. Itz now a little past 7 and we R about an hr or so frum Lebanon, NH.
